I AM
a design ethnographer and research maker cultures in times of polycrisis. In my PhD at the Institute for Sociology and Cultural Organisation at Leuphana University Lüneburg, I explored urban living labs in the rural areas of North-Eastern Germany and investigated how they mobilise design as an agent of eco-social change. I have a background in integrative design, experimental typography and media studies.

Wooden Toy
Toy
2021
The wooden toy consists of 21 wooden elements and 21 coloured connecting rods, a biscuit tin and a small fabric bag for the connecting rods. The special features are the various shapes and different weights of the individual components. The asymmetrical shapes give room for interpretation, they do not carry a preset association. The plug-in principle is self-explanatory and simple. Everything fits together. The variety and the large scope for
interpretation are supported by the pleasant feel and value of the wood and the exciting experience of different sizes and weights. The individual components are made of different types of wood. Thus, small parts can be quite heavy, while large ones are light as a feather. Children playfully learn an understanding of spatial relationships, balance and creativity; for adults, the game has above all a calming effect.
